About Britwell Parish Council
The Parish Council is the lowest tier of local government, but forms a very important role as the Councillors are closer to and more accessible to the people they represent.
The Parish Council is actively involved in the support of local organisations, both financially and practically.
The Community Centre
The Parish own a community centre with halls that are hired out for functions, a 7day a week Bar. There is also a large playing field attached to the centre that is used every week during the season by local football teams.
At the moment plans are being drawn up for the renovation of the community centre, parts of which are around 50 years old.
Every year there is held a Carnival for the Britwell and neighbouring estate of Northborough. This carnival is organised by an independent committee but the Parish Council is heavily involved financially and practically. The parade ends on the Parish field with a fate and fair.
The Council has 13 Councillors elected by the residents every four years. Full Parish meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month, except the months of August and December. There are also Committees for Centre Management and Finance. The meetings are open to the public with question time at the full Parish meetings. Details of meetings can be found on the notice board in the Parish Community Centre.
The Parish Council works closely with Slough Borough Council and is consulted on matters concerning the residents of the Parish. These included such matters as Planning applications, Highways and street lighting. The Parish Council also works very closely with the local Police on crime and the promotion of local youth activities.
